"This agency is unethical to say the least. We reached out with an inquiry to visit a house in Seixal and a house in Bufarda. The agent also offered a 3rd house in Serra do Calvo to visit that was above our price range, but he believed they were eager to sell and would lower their price. After seeing all 3 houses, we really liked the one the agent had recommended and put an offer in for under asking price later the same day. We told the agent that we would have our solicitor go over the documents and the contract and pending everything checked out, we would sign the contract and close on the house quickly. For two weeks we went back and forth with the seller and settled on a price. Within a day of reviewing the contract, our solicitor found a clause in the documents that she said needed clarification from REMAX. It turns out that there were 2 cousins that were also on the deed to the house, who were estranged from the family and they had refused to sign off to give clear title to the seller. (On the day we viewed the house we told the agent we’d had a deal on a different house fall apart because of co-ownership and he said nothing about the property we were currently viewing having the same legal issue!) our solicitor advised us not to proceed and informed us that this information about the house had been deliberately hidden from us. The supervisor claims that we were told about this situation on the day of the visit, not true. We would never have made an offer on the house had we known. Use this agency with extreme caution!"
