"We are serious buyers and we were looking at 3 houses. We were very displeased when the agent (Antonia) demanded that we transfer her 10.000 euros per house before she would even contact the seller. When we asked to see pubic documents on the property to evaluate it (caterneta and the energy certificate) she refused unless we made an offer first (looping back to the 10k euro) and claimed it was a privacy matter. I complained to Sotheby's corporate and the said that as a franchise they don't take any responsibility."

"I inquired about the location of one property on Idealista and received a call from an agent from Sotherby's Estoril basically saying that in order to know the exact location of the property I had to sign with them as my realtor even though I have been working with another realtor! He was trying so hard to gather information on what we were looking for etc. even though I told him we already had an agent. He said that because I inquired about the property on Idealista and they had my information in their system, my current agent would not be able to work on any Sotherby's listing with us. Then 5 minutes later, I received an email from Sotherby's Portugal requesting to authorize them to save my data. Very unprofessional and arrogant. I would never work with them. Beware of this company. Update: Since I didn’t authorize them to save my data, today I received another email saying: “Dear Sir/Madam, Your personal information has been updated at Estoril Office” with a link to click on to consult my data! Again trying to make me click on the link so they can keep my personal data and my agent can’t receive any commission if I decide to purchase a Sotherby’s listing! If you are considering working with them to list your property, be aware that they would not provide information on their listings unless I signed with them - which means the client is potentially missing out on the sale of his/her property. Using these tactics is unacceptable and should be reported somehow. I hope someone at Sotherby’s higher up reads these reviews."

"Não posso estar mais de acordo com estas últimas críticas. O objetivo desta agência é conseguir cobrar toda a sua comissão com o contrato promessa. Depois disso, é como se deixassem de ter clientes. No meu caso ainda foi mais grave, para além de ter gasto uma série de dinheiro em documentos que afinal não fizeram falta para a escritura, a agente fez pandilha com a compradora e esta esteve a viver na minha casa sem que a escritura se fizesse. A agência, no início, mentiu a dizer que a compradora não ia necessitar de crédito bancário, e que a escritura ia demorar 1 mês. Pois na verdade, com a falta de acompanhamento posterior, a escritura realizou-se 9 meses depois!!! As criticas positivas aqui listadas (com 5 estrelas), são de pessoas da agência ou amigos. Até o responsável da agência colocou aqui 5 estrelas. Francamente!!! A verdadeira média não passa de 1 estrela, máximo 2!!!"

"The lack of professionalism and expertise in this agency is so extreme that they are an embarrassment to the Sotheby’s name. After an extremely positive experience with our initial agent who left the agency shortly after securing our promissory contract we have been left with an extremely bitter taste in our mouths. The agency was completely incompetent and barely present to deal with the final sales contract leaving us hanging in difficult situations with the seller and the notarial office which had not been aptly prepared for the final sale deed. Some months later we considered buying an alternative property which unfortunately was also listed with Sotheby’s but here too the agency showed inept at their supposed job. The agent showed up late to the appointment and was just a dead weight following us around whilst the owner showed us the home. When we asked the agent questions later she did not know the answers and no follow up was done. We feel sorry for the owner as they will clearly struggle to get their home sold by an agency that doesn't know how to sell. We also subsequently asked to get our home valued and we got a scanned document that was full of errors and no depth was provided for the numbers. It is no wonder that so many homes spend months on end on their website- they make no effort nor know true market value of the properties they list. A true disgrace."
